Diva's DIY: Vanity Lights

So this was my first DIY project of the new year in the new place. I needed better lighting in my makeup space and hadn't thought about how to do it until I was sitting watching YouTube and stumbled upon a easy way to get what I needed. In the picture above is everything you will need. What's not pictured is the hook I used to hang my lights and the bulbs I used which were two packs of daylight bulbs. You can visit your local hardware store to get these items. The light switch control if you can not find at hardware store I did notice target does carry similar switches.

In order to convert this to a plug in fixture you will need to connect the extension cord to the wires of the fixture. Cut of the piece of the cord that you would plug other plugs into. Expose some of the wires because you will be attaching that to the wires of the fixture.
In order to pull the wires back into the fixture remove the socket rims by pulling them off. Pull the wires back thru.
You will connect the rough side of the cord to the white wire and the smooth side to the black wire. Cover those with the caps by simply screwing them on. Tuck all of that back in and then place top plate back on.

I made it so the cord was hanging out the side. After I was happy with the placement I replaced the socket rings. I put in a bulb to test it, plugged it in and we had light! I then took my fixture plug and plugged it into my switch adapter and made sure that worked.

Here is the end result. I took a screw in hook, screwed it into the wall above the mirror and then hung the fixture. The fixture has 4 daylight style bulbs. These bulbs give off great daylight style light. I feel like these are the best for doing your makeup. I do plan to replace the mirror over the cord so that it is not in the way. I keep the switch at the end of my table but I can screw it into the wall if I want. This was quick and easy to to. I absolutely love it. It wasn't expensive at all. I spent under $50 to do this project.

I purchased everything from lowes.
The fixture was $13.98
Extension cord $1.57
Light switch $14.97
Light bulbs (daylight bulbs) 2 packs $11.98 each.
Scissors I had but if needed purchase yourself a good one
C hooks I had already but they can be found at hardware store.
In the original video the girl said she used command strips but this fixture didn't work with using the strips.

Stay tuned for video on desk to vanity update. In the mean time check out my video of this project. I didn't do it live but I did leave the link of Lisa Pullano's video. So you can go check out her video also.

In the meantime stay fabulous divas. Hope this inspired you to do something for your space.

Holiday Haul Part 2: The Black Friday EDITION

So Black Friday for makeup  was a partial bust. I got a few things but got disappointed on some others. So let's start with what I did get.So of course what would be a Black Friday with out something from MAC. So I only ordered two items. The first in the gold packaging is the Prabal Gurung lip gloss in the color Ultramarine Pink. Now this collection was very pricey I must admit. There are two other lipglasses. There was 3 lipsticks that are now all sold out, eye pencils, eye shadows and more some of which is sold out. The cheapest item in this collection was $20 and the highest priced item was$70. The lipglass that I chose was $30. I loved the gold packaging on this and the color is so pretty.
The second item is the Smoky Black Friday veluxe pearlfusion shadow trio. Now if you are a MAC shopper you know every Black Friday there has been something to compliment the day. This year is the shadow which is a creamy formula whether used wet for for a super boost of color or dry for a more sheer look you will definitely achieve an amazing smoky look. It is still available for $25. I won't say this is a must have item because you can get these shades in cheaper trios but if you are a MAC lover like I am it was a nice addition to my collection of Black Friday items I have purchased.

The next item I purchased on Black Friday was from my second favorite; Urban Decay. Yes Divas this set is definitely worth it. If you are looking for something that has a little of everything this is it. Now I will say I wish there was a pop of color in the shadows but before I get to that let me show you what I am talking about.
This is the limited edition Get Naked on the Run palette. This is gorgeous packaging. Great for travel, this has a little bit of everything you need. I do wish it came with a travel size eye potion primer but for the value you get a lot.
So this is the inside of case. You get a perversion mascara, 24/7 eye liner in the shade, a lipgloss in the shade Sesso Naked Lipgloss, 5 eye shadows; Dive, Fix, Resist, Dare, and Stun, a bronzer, blush and highlight. I took this with me last weekend on a trip to South Carolina. It fit in my train case and cut back on some of what I needed. It was a great compliment to my other palettes that I used that weekend. It is now available at Ulta and Sephora for $54 or you can still order it directly from Urban Decay.
So to my on to my disappointment. So I placed a order with ulta. Lorac had put out two palettes that were only exclusive to Ulta for Black Friday. So I go to place my order and one of the palettes sold out before I could place order so I was able to get the other one. Later during the week I get a email that the palette was sold out and they couldn't fill my order even though I had see it was available in my cart and I could purchase. The nice side was Ulta sent me a $20 e-gift card to use. What I did get was these items from NYX.  On the left is Transylvania and on the right is Copenhagen soft matte lip creams.

So my next disappointment came not on Black Friday but on the 4th. So urban decay was putting out a limited edition vice palette that day at 1p.m. So I got a email earlier in the day but you couldn't add the palette to the basket still. So 1 rolls around and I have my phone close by. I was getting ready for the ball at the same time. I went to add the palette and it was sold out.
This was the limited vice palette. 😟 I was so sad I did not get it. Look at those colors. In the end I had a okay haul. So until next time Divas. Stay tuned for more. Check out my video of the haul.

Holiday Haul Part 1

Seasons Greetings my fabolous makeup junkie Divas. I absolutely love the holiday's, but never knew I would love makeup shopping during the holiday's. Omg did I get some great deals. This stuff just so you guys know is pre thanksgiving and pre Black Friday. I will have a separate blog report and video for my Black Friday haul. Let's dive in

So we start with my fav cosmetic company MAC! This is their heirloom collection. When I saw it online I just knew I had to have it and be able to get a piece of this holiday collection. In the box is a makeup bag, mascara, eyeliner and a eyeshadow duo. It's called the plum eye bag. It was $39.50. I believe you can still get this set on the website or even in a MAC store. I also got two lipsticks, a creamesheen and the nude/coral lipgloss set.

The first lipstick is like a dark burgundy color called tribalist(I swatched this in my video). Next to it is a color not new to this collection, it's rebel. Underneath those two is the creamesheen courting chic. It looks like a dark red that gives off purple/blue tones. To the right is the nude/coral set that includes 3 creamesheens and one dazzle glass. The lipsticks were $16 each, creamesheen $22 I believe and the lip set was $35  I absolutely love the colors that I got. Thinking of grabbing more from this collection before it is gone. The creamesheen glosses feel creamy and not sticky. Nice to compliment any holiday look.

Now this was not a holiday item. This palette had been out for a while and I just couldn't get it in store while I was home in NY. Just look at the packaging. It is beautiful and rich. This is the Tamanna dress your face palette from Anastasia of Beverly Hills.

Look at these beautiful colors. So pretty for the fall into winter. I can't wait to try this palette. It is so rich. It is going to be fun. This palette comes with a mirror and a double sided brush.

Of course I had to order from BhCosmetics. This wasn't a holiday sale and none of this is holiday but they had a really good sale. I wish I could have brought this video earlier but by time I got this stuff the sale was over anyway. It had to be one of their really good deals sales. I have to say follow them either on IG or go to the website and sign up for emails. They always have great deals, I got the new forever nude contour, highlight and blush palette, the wild child palette, a 15 piece brush set that came in that beautiful brown and bronze brush fold and I got the 10 piece contour brush set. I have to take them out of the plastic pouch they came in cause it smells horrible but the brushes are great. Nice and soft also.

These are amazing. I got them from colourpop. Now you are probably saying "colourpop who?" Yes Divas! I first heard about this company on YouTube of course. I saw one of platinum_d's videos showing these and liked them so much after I watched I went on to there site and ordered. These have a great color payoff and they are only $5 each. Yes I said it $5 plus they gave me a coupon code just for signing up for emails.
Here are the swatches of the colors that I received. From left to right; leather, feminist, creature and flawless. You do not have to use the pencils with their corresponding lippie stick but they are definitely great with their corresponding color. I love these and the price can't beat it.

So this is a holiday item. I hope many of you caught the video but if you didn't go to TARGET.com now and order this beautiful brush set. I missed the 15 year anniversary set so I was not missing these. I went to target before they put them out and didn't see them. Lol figured they either weren't getting them or they went that fast. So went online and ordered them but went to target again another day for something else and they had them....smh but I digress. The end result is I got my brushes and they are fabulous.

Now this is the last of the haul. These are not holiday. These came out a while ago but I couldn't find them in store. I didn't want to order them but you can if you can't find at your local beauty supply store from ikatehouse.com. There were 12 new colors and I got 7 of them.......
Here are the swatches of the lip paints. As you can see they are well pigmented. From left to right tempt, darling, seduce, whimsical, whisper, peony and gleam. These do not dry matte so if that is your preference these are not for you. At $2.99 a piece they are great if you like a non traditional lipstick. Just toss in your bag and go. Anyway my fab Divas. I hope you enjoyed my haul lol or atleast part one of it. Stay tuned for part 2. In the mean time stay fab.

Urban Decay Vice 3 Review

What can I say about this palette? Lol a whole lot! Diva's I absolutely love this palette. Let's just talk about the packaging. This beautiful hard case is so pretty. The Vice is raised on the case almost like a jewel color. When you open the inside you have a large mirror and then you are treated to all of these amazing colors. This palette offers many shades that can inspire many looks especially for this fall season. There are 20 colors in this palette so there isn't a lack of variety.

Not only do you get all of these colors but the palette includes a dual ended brush for your use. One side to blend and the other side to pat on eyeshadow on your lid. I have to be honest I wasn't crazy about brush in my electric palette but I kind of like this one. I am going to use it a little more as I use this palette.

When you purchase this palette it comes in a makeup bag that you can either keep it in or use for your makeup. This definitely was not a cheap palette. It retails for $60 which is not really bad. If you honestly think about it if you purchased all of these shades it works out to $3 a shadow. So whether you spread it out or do it all at once guess what you spent $60 for all these colors. Now it may not be worth it you or you may say I can find dupes for these colors in a cheaper brand or palette but for $3 a shade I don't know if you could find individually and as good a quality. If I find it though I will bring it to you Divas.

For my over all review of this palette I give this one🌟🌟🌟🌟. I love the payoff interms of colors. There was a variety of colors and the brush in this palette I liked better. It is a little pricey yes. I could have bout a new pair of shoe and a bag or just a new bag for that price, but look at the breakdown of it. If you bout them individually it would be $3 a shadow. It's an investment in your self. It is a great quality for a non MUA.  It is one of my new faves.

Anyway my Diva Junkies hope this inspires you. Check out the video link will be down below. Didn't share the pic of look I did because it didn't look all that great in my opinion but you can check me out on IG: DivasHouseoffab for all my looks and then some. Yall stay fab you know your girl always is.

I am not a makeup artist. I am a makeup junkie who is sharing the opinions of what I like. I purchased this item with my own money and was not paid to say any of this. It was all my own ideas and feeling. πŸ’‹

My Look, My Review: Tyler Perry "Hell Hath No Fury Like A Woman Scorned"

So I am behind with my blogs and had to bring you this review. I got a chance to see a play while I was here and I am so glad I got the opportunity to see "Hell Hath No Fury Like A Woman Scorned" by Tyler Perry.

The play was hilarious and of course with everyone of Tyler Perry's plays there is a message. I know some people who needed to see this one. It starred none other than Love Thy Neighbors character Hattie Mae and boy was she not only hilarious as always she was on point with delievering the message. Also in the show like many others of his plays was Cheryl "Pepsi" Riley. She played the woman who was scorned. She wanted love but in Gods time. When she thought it was her prayers answered it turned out to be for lack of better terms " a wolf in sheep clothing"

I give this play a "Amen" and "Hallelu" in my Tamar Braxton voice. I am so glad that I got the opportunity to see it. It's been years since I had to chance to see a live play. The music was great and the message came across loud and clear. I am telling you if you are fan of Tyler Perry and his work see it when it comes to a city near you.

Now for this look I rocked to the show. You know I had to do a full face beat. I was going to the city and could do nothing less. I am getting better with my technique I think so I have learned to start out with my eyes first and I got to say that is the way to go.

For my eyebrows I used a pencil from NYC cosmetics in dark brown to fill in my already arched brows. Then I followed up with MAC nc42 concealer. It works well to for my highlight. Now I will be honest I took so long to write this blog that I forgot what colors I used from my naked 3 palette but I will say in my transition area I went in with a brown shade and tried to keep my look neutral but sassy. For a liner I used ELF cosmetics liquid liner in black and my lashes are done with Younique 3d lashes

I prime my face with Smashbox photo finish primer and then use MAC nw45 studio finish foundation (I believe that is what it is called. Not looking at the bottle right now). To highlight under my eyes, t-zone, cuspids bow and chin I use my LA girl pro hd concealer and blend that in. For my cheeks I took one the rosey colors from my BhCosmetics glamorous blush palette.

Finally for my lips I used Mac's nightmoth to line my lips then used the new Rhianna viva glam 2 lipstick. I love it and it looked great for fall evening out.

This was definitely a great look for me and I had a great time doing it and a great evening out with my mom and her friend. Hope you guys take my advice and go see the play. In the mean time stay fabulous.

Cooking With Diva

Welcoming to cooking with Diva.
This is the first time I am posting one of my recipes on my blog because I have been asked before how to make it. So let me tell you how to make my favorite breakfast dish.....Spinach and Bacon quiche.

What you will need for this:

1 pack of frozen spinach
1/2 of a red and green pepper
1/2 a yellow onion
1/2 a cup of American cheese yellow or white
4 large eggs
6 slices of thick cut bacon
Pie crust (already made or make your own)
1/2 a tablespoon of parsley
Salt & pepper of seasoning salt to taste

Allow your frozen spinach to defrost the night before or defrost in microwave. Strain out all the water and set aside. Chop up your onion peppers and set aside.

On a slotted backing sheet or a foil lines baking sheet pop your bacon in the oven at 375 and bake until crisp. Once done place on plate lined with paper towel and allow the rest of the access grease to drain.

In a pan sautΓ© onions and peppers together in a litte bit of oil. Just enough to cover the bottom of the pan. Cook the veggies until slightly tender and then add your drained spinach. Season to taste with either your s&p or seasoning salt.

Place your pie crust in pie dish( I like to use a glass one). Bake in oven at 350 but not until golden brown. You basically just want to blind bake your crust. Make sure to take a fork and make little holes all over bottom so that it does not bubble up when baking. Make sure to check it so that it does not get to brown then pull out the oven to allow to cool for a bit.

Once your bacon has drained, chop and then add to veggies. Place in pie shell and spread it evenly on the bottom.

Take your four large eggs and season them. Add parse,y and beat the eggs. You can add a bit of milk just to make it a little fluffy if you like.

Pour your egg mixture over the spinach mixture. Don't worry it will spread thru your spinach mixture. Take your half a cup of cheese, I chose to use white cheddar cheese and spread over the top of filling. You can also take half of the cheese and mix in mixture and then use the rest to top. I have done it both ways.

Bake in oven at 350 or 375 until egg is fully cooked and cheese has melted. Make sure you check it you don't want crust to get to brown that it taste burnt. In the end you will have this final product. Let cool and then you can refrigerator for the next morning or slice right then. I feel like the flavors have time to really set in and it taste great the next day. Slice and heat up, have it with either a cup of coffee or tea and you have the most filing breakfast.

This usually last me the whole week or if shared with my brother when I am home lol maybe till Wednesday depending on when I make it. Otherwise it is filing and has not only your protein but veggies. I hope you give it a try and stay fab!
