MAC: Cinderella Collection

Hello my Diva beauties welcome to another edition here at Divas House. So February 26 MAC released its Cinderella collection on line and it is set to be in stores March 5th. I ordered my items the morning of the release and it was a good thing I did because by afternoon a lot of the items I purchased were sold out. Currently I am traveling so in order to bring this review to you online I had the items overnighted to me.
Before I jump into packaging and the items let me tell you what I did not like about this line. It was a complaint that I hear from a few friends when I posted this line was coming. The biggest complaint was that it was not woman of color friendly. There were so many items in the line and if you don't know how to use the items to work with your skin tone you were not buying anything in this collection. Being a woman of color I found the lipsticks and glosses to be to light for me but realized I can pair them with other shades or lip liners that would give it an appearance that worked for me.
I did though find that the shadows appeared to be something I could work with. I didn't buy things like the eye glosses because I didn't find the shades anything I could use and reviews I read said that they may have been sticky.
Another thing I didn't like and it has nothing to do with packaging it has to do with the site as a whole. So prior to this release you could sign up to get text and emails about the release. Now I am already signed up so I was just waiting for the notifications. I happened to be reading another beauty blog that had the dates posted for the release so I knew when they were coming out. The morning of  I just happened to awake before the release(8:30 a.m) and decided to check the site. Everything was already up and ready to be sold. So like I said I jumped on it before I missed out. Even in while picking items I lost out on one of the lipsticks only to find out it was a glitch after I had checked out. Another thing was the brushes. I had seen what they looked like on Pinterest but the site had the regular black brushes pictured so I won't know if they match the collection until I go in to a store to see if I can purchase the other lipstick and matching brushes ( a blending brush 217 and a angled brush).

On to what I did like about this collection. I absolutely love the packaging of this collection. The colors of the packaging are just like her ice blue dress she wears to the ball. If you are a makeup collector then this is a set that you would like to have even if it is just one or two pieces.  Like I said I got four items out of this collection. There was so much to pick from. What was in the collection just in case you haven't seen it our know the full details where two lipsticks, two lip glasses, two pigments, two eye glosses, a  6 shadow palette, a glitter, two pressed powders, two brushes and 3 nail polishes.

The items I got where the 6 shadow palette called Stroke of Midnight, the pressed powder in Coupe D' Chic, lipstick in royal ball and lip glass in happily ever after. My first impression of this is I love the packaging. The colors in the palette I can work with. The lipstick and glass I would have to use with something else to get a good look for myself otherwise don't thing these would be for me by itself. The pressed powder does have a nice shimmer where I can see myself using it as a highlighter being that it is a irreidescent powder. All in in all I like this collection but wish it had more for women of color even if Cinderella wasn't a woman of color. I am sure every woman especially one who is. Mac junkie wants to feel and look like a princess. Any way my fabulous Divas stay tuned for my review on my yt channel DivasHouse. In the mean time stay fabulous because your girl is always.

Diva's DIY: Vanity Lights

So this was my first DIY project of the new year in the new place. I needed better lighting in my makeup space and hadn't thought about how to do it until I was sitting watching YouTube and stumbled upon a easy way to get what I needed. In the picture above is everything you will need. What's not pictured is the hook I used to hang my lights and the bulbs I used which were two packs of daylight bulbs. You can visit your local hardware store to get these items. The light switch control if you can not find at hardware store I did notice target does carry similar switches.

In order to convert this to a plug in fixture you will need to connect the extension cord to the wires of the fixture. Cut of the piece of the cord that you would plug other plugs into. Expose some of the wires because you will be attaching that to the wires of the fixture.
In order to pull the wires back into the fixture remove the socket rims by pulling them off. Pull the wires back thru.
You will connect the rough side of the cord to the white wire and the smooth side to the black wire. Cover those with the caps by simply screwing them on. Tuck all of that back in and then place top plate back on.

I made it so the cord was hanging out the side. After I was happy with the placement I replaced the socket rings. I put in a bulb to test it, plugged it in and we had light! I then took my fixture plug and plugged it into my switch adapter and made sure that worked.

Here is the end result. I took a screw in hook, screwed it into the wall above the mirror and then hung the fixture. The fixture has 4 daylight style bulbs. These bulbs give off great daylight style light. I feel like these are the best for doing your makeup. I do plan to replace the mirror over the cord so that it is not in the way. I keep the switch at the end of my table but I can screw it into the wall if I want. This was quick and easy to to. I absolutely love it. It wasn't expensive at all. I spent under $50 to do this project.

I purchased everything from lowes.
The fixture was $13.98
Extension cord $1.57
Light switch $14.97
Light bulbs (daylight bulbs) 2 packs $11.98 each.
Scissors I had but if needed purchase yourself a good one
C hooks I had already but they can be found at hardware store.
In the original video the girl said she used command strips but this fixture didn't work with using the strips.

Stay tuned for video on desk to vanity update. In the mean time check out my video of this project. I didn't do it live but I did leave the link of Lisa Pullano's video. So you can go check out her video also.

In the meantime stay fabulous divas. Hope this inspired you to do something for your space.
